Holidays are a time for relaxation, travel and family trips. However, before you set off on your journey, it is worth taking care of your own safety, the safety of your passengers and other road users. Ecodrive Katowice Driver Training Centre reminds you how to prepare for driving and what to do to make your journey peaceful and safe. Here are the most important rules that will help you enjoy the summer without unnecessary stress.
Check the technical condition of your vehicle before leaving
Regardless of whether you are going to the seaside, the mountains or abroad, take care of the basic technical inspection of your car.
Make sure that:
the brakes are working properly,
the oil and operating fluids are at the right level,
the tires have the right pressure and are not worn out,
the lights are functional and well set,
the air conditioning is working effectively.
At Ecodrive Katowice, we teach that preparing your vehicle for a longer journey is the first step to safe driving.
Take care of rest and concentration
Fatigue is one of the main causes of road accidents during the holidays. Get a good night’s sleep before traveling and avoid driving at night. Take regular breaks – preferably every 2 hours. Even a 15-minute break allows you to regenerate your strength and increase your concentration. If you feel sleepy – stop, air it out or take a nap. Safe traveling also means managing your own body sensibly.
Adjust your speed to the road conditions
Summer trips often involve long routes, motorways and expressways. Despite favorable weather conditions, do not forget about speed limits. During the holidays, the roads are congested, many drivers are less experienced, and the presence of pedestrians, cyclists or children in the vicinity of resorts is an everyday occurrence. Adjust your driving style to the conditions. Remember – safe driving does not mean fast driving.
Make sure to properly prepare your luggage and passengers
During the training at Ecodrive Katowice, we remind students how important it is to properly arrange their luggage. Heavy items should be stored as low as possible, preferably in the boot. Avoid leaving loose items in the cabin – they can pose a risk in the event of sudden braking. Make sure all passengers wear seat belts, including those in the back seats.
Plan your route and consider alternatives
A holiday trip can surprise you with traffic jams, roadworks or detours. Use navigation applications and plan your route in advance. Avoid rushing – it is the enemy of safety. If you are travelling with children, plan breaks for meals and play. Ecodrive Katowice encourages conscious and planned driving, which reduces stress and the risk of accidents.
Avoid using your phone while driving
Phone calls, messages and using GPS while driving are some of the most common causes of distraction. If you need to use your phone, use a hands-free set or stop in a safe place. At OSK Ecodrive Katowice, we teach how important it is to focus on the road and limit all distractions.
Summary
Driving safely by car during the holidays is not only an obligation, but also an expression of concern for yourself and your loved ones. By taking care of a well-functioning vehicle, a rested driver, reasonable speed and conscious route planning, you increase your chances of a trouble-free journey. At the Ecodrive Katowice Driver Training Centre, we teach not only how to pass the exam, but above all – how to be a responsible driver every day.
